Why Companion Synod?
The companion Synods program establishes partner relationships between synods of the E.L.C.A. and synods or churches outside the U.S.. It began with the Division for Global Mission’s Mission90 program. It enables a synod of the E.L.C.A. to experience the gifts and witness of another church around the world. The relationship is established for the purpose of strengthening one another for life and mission within the Body of Christ and offers the opportunity to participate with others through mutual prayer, study, communication, and exchange of personnel and resources. The companion Synod to the Northeastern Ohio Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is the Northern Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southern Africa. Our mission is, “We are partners in this Companion Covenant to give one another opportunities to share our commitment to Christ in the community of faith and to give expression to our Oneness in Christ. |
