The Northeastern Ohio Synod has been awarded a five-year, $500,000 grant from the CaSTLE Project (Country and Small Town Lived Ecclesiology), a national initiative of Wartburg Theological Seminary. This grant supports our synod’s work of reimagining ministry in rural and small-town contexts by deepening baptismal identity, strengthening lay leadership, and fostering collaborative models of shared ministry through the One Church Experiment. As part of this initiative, the grant funds a full-time rostered leader to accompany congregations in this transformative work. In response, we have called Deacon Erin Taylor Bodenstab to serve in this synod staff role, helping us live more fully into our baptismal callings.
