Care of Roster Committee

For the Care of Our Rostered Ministers.

The Care of Roster Committee is committed to the well-being of our rostered ministers. This includes providing beneficial resources for our rostered ministers. Check by this page periodically for updates.

Yes, you need continuing study for preaching; you also need self-care!

  • Check out the Portico Wellness Wheel.

  • Your Synod encourages you to seek help in self-care from a spiritual director, life coach, or clergy coach and will reimburse the professional $30 per visit per month. For information, visit here.

  • Review the sabbatical guidelines; we encourage you to take time away. Too much time caring for others will lead to burn out.

  • Review vacation policies- including Sundays off. Time away is good for pastors and congregations. See the updated Pulpit Supply.

  • Allow time off after Lent/Easter and Christmas holidays.

  • Here’s one of our recommended sources for self-care in the form of a seminar/class (this site is safe): Faith + Lead.
